Column is revelation on horse slaughtering
Re: the Dec. 14 online guest opinion "Stop inhumane slaughtering of our horses to feed elite Europeans":
There are no words I could say to express my gratitude for publishing my most important column.
As you are probably aware, the 109th Senate left Congress without taking a vote.
I will continue to try to promote awareness of the truth about horse slaughter until all the horses are safe.
You have opened the door for American horses, giving them a voice, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that.
For the 74 percent of Americans polled who are now aware of horse slaughter, we will continue to pray and do everything within our power to end "America's Dirty Little Secret."
I would love to see a follow-up about all the toxins in American horses at time of slaughter. I do feel that our country will pay the ultimate price by numerous lawsuits against the USDA when the people consuming the horsemeat have heart problems and cancer.
I cannot bring myself to watch a slaughter in progress. I cannot sleep at night; those images are tearing me apart. This act is not human by any means.
Workers stab horses in their necks while they are waiting to go to the kill box. This is wrong.
These are American icons, and we owe them the right to die peacefully, not because someone wants to make a buck.
